Privacy Policy

Who we are

Senpai Japanese is run by a sole proprietor in Japan (see the 特定商取引法に基づく表記 page). Contact: [email protected].

What we collect

  • Emails you send us. Your address and message, used only to reply.
  • JLPT Coaching waitlist. When you join the waitlist, we store your email address, target level, exam month, study hours per week, and (if you give them) why you need the JLPT and your Discord username, together with your consent to be emailed. We use this to plan the pilot and to contact you about it. It is stored with Supabase, like requests below.
  • Requests. When you use our request form, we store what you enter: the title, the format you want, your country or region, time zone, email address, and (if you give them) your Japanese level, a message, and whether you want to be emailed when sign-ups or sales open. We use this to decide which classes and workbooks to make, when to hold classes, and to contact you about your request. It is stored with our database provider, Supabase, on servers in the United States.
  • Purchases. Payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy shares with us your name, email address, country, and what you bought, so we can support your order. We never see your full card details. Lemon Squeezy’s own privacy policy applies to the checkout.
  • Language preference. When you pick a language mode, your browser remembers it in local storage on your own device. It is not sent to us.
  • Hosting logs. Our host (Cloudflare) processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site.

We do not use advertising or analytics trackers on this site.

How we use it

To deliver products, answer questions, handle refunds, and meet legal and tax obligations. We do not sell personal information.

How long we keep it

Order records are kept as long as tax law requires. Emails are deleted when no longer needed.

Your rights

You may ask to see, correct, or delete your personal information by emailing us. If you are in the EU/UK or another region with privacy laws, you also have the rights those laws give you, including the right to complain to your local regulator.

International transfers

We are based in Japan, and our service providers may process data in other countries. We only use providers that protect personal information appropriately.
